This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies of interest to preppers and survivalists that are located in the American Redoubt region. Today, we focus on Washington’s pending ban on many semi-auto rifles. (See the Washington section.)

Central & Eastern Washington

Some bad news: Semi-automatic rifle ban passes Washington Legislature. JWR’s Comments: This bill would ban most detachable-magazine semi-auto rifles, many shotguns, some handguns,  and any magazine that holds more than 10 cartridges. Mark my words:  If signed into law by Democrat Governor Jay Inslee, this legislation will be the veritable “last straw” for many conservative residents of Washington. I expect to see a mass exodus of gun owners from Washington. This will also likely propel the Liberty State movement back into the headlines. Much like the situation in Oregon, the Wet Side/Dry Side cultural divide in Washington is becoming a chasm.
