A car was thrown across a roadway in Palm Beach, Florida, as a powerful tornado rolled through on Saturday evening.

The strong twister rolled through North Palm Beach around 5pm, leaving residents to battle powerful winds and flying debris.

One driver captured the moment a small vehicle was dramatically tossed into the air after the wind caught it, rolling it several times to the surprise of others on the highway.

It is unknown if the car’s occupants were injured during the tumble.

Debris covered the street, being whipped in the wind, as Palm Beach residents nervously waited out the twister, hoping their own vehicles would remain solidly on the ground.

A video taken in another car shows red taillights as drivers paused their journeys, only for the wind to catch a small vehicle, lifting it up and tossing it across the roadway. The car can be seen rolling lengthwise twice before settling

The tornado also hit a Palm Beach Gardens apartment complex, causing a four-car pileup in the parking lot and several other cars to be pushed into each other. Several vehicles were left askew in their spaces after the storm rolled through.

The building sustained minimal damage, but it was enough to ‘terrify’ residents inside, according to WPBF’s Steve King

Shawn MacNamara, of Palm Beach Gardens, said he ducked down in his car when the tornado rolled through, claiming it was the ‘scariest thing ever.’

Roads were blocked by fallen palm trees and police were seen sitting in intersections to help direct traffic where the lights went out.
