About 200 dogs and their owners showed up to wish one California man a happy birthday on June 17, after family members organized a celebratory dog parade

Using the Nextdoor app, family members asked people to dress up their dogs and join them in a parade in honor of San Jose resident Dr. Robert Moore’s 100th birthday.

According to NBC Bay Area, hundreds of dogs attended the event including pups with disabilities pulling carts, those in cowboy hats, and some dressed in tuxedos.

Moore’s daughter, Alison, told NBC Bay Area she was only expecting about 20 to 30 dogs to show up for the canine-loving retired dean from San Jose State University.

“My father, he was so touched. He pet every single dog that came through. Every person brought the dog up to him. It was so lovely,” Alison said.

“He had the best day petting every one of them,” his granddaughter, Christina Moore, wrote on a TikTok video recapping the event.

Alison also shared that the family was touched by how the community came together so quickly to make Moore’s birthday unforgettable. The line of dogs attending reportedly stretched all the way around the block and down the street.

Total strangers not only brought their dogs, she said, but gifts including flowers, cupcakes, handmade drawings, and posters.

“It makes you feel wonderful about your community that people would come out and do that for your dad who you love so much,” Alison said. “It was really special.”
