A TERRIFYING video shows a shark swimming in shallow water right near a crowd of people at a busy beach over the holiday.

The scary scene unfolded in Navarre Beach in Pensacola, Florida, on Monday as four attacks at New York’s beaches led to increased monitoring and patrols.

Beach-goers filmed the shark casually swimming in shallow water in Florida.

Cristy Cox shared video of the shark on Facebook, calling it an “eventful day” and writing: “Stopped at Navarre beach [and] got to see a shark.”

In the short video, the shark’s fin can be seen surfacing several times from the clear blue water, as dozens of nearby swimmers start making their way to shore.

Some, however, took a disturbingly long time to exit the water, with many stopping and turning around to watch the shark that was just feet away.

Others on shore can be heard shouting: “Get out of the water!”

“Where did it go, where did it go?” another person can be heard asking.

“There’s somebody still out there!”

It is hard to tell whether the shark was swimming toward people or just around them.

Cox later told the Pensacola News Journal that the shark appeared to be chasing a fish.

“It all happened so fast! A dolphin was actually side by side with the shark at first and then just disappeared,” she said.

“The shark was just trying to feed as they are expected and just passed by swimmers.

“Everyone was stunned as it moved down the beach chasing the school of fish. We all just have to remember this is natural and we are in their home, so stay alert!”

Cox did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

Beach Safety Director Austin Turnbill said that the sight is not uncommon and typically not a cause for concern.

“There’s sharks in the Gulf, everywhere,” he said.

“We see sharks almost every day and there’s nothing to be alarmed of for 99.9 percent of the time.”

Even if sharks are acting aggressively in the area, the animals are typically chasing large fish, he said.

NEW YORK ON HIGH ALERT

Meanwhile, in New York, four shark attacks were recorded within hours along popular beaches.

Two men in their 40s were believed to have been bitten by sharks on Tuesday as the coast was crowded with beachgoers celebrating Fourth of July.

One man was swimming in chest-deep water at Quogue Village Beach when he was bitten.

Another swimmer suffered a bite to the hand off Fire Island Pines.

Hours earlier, a school of at least 50 sand sharks was spotted just 200yards from the beach of Robert Moses State Park, the New York Post reported.

Swimmers were advised to stay close to shore after the beach reopened.

A day earlier, two teens were attacked while enjoying the ocean.

A 15-year-old girl was bitten on her left leg at Robert Moses Beach around 2pm and she was treated for small wounds on her foot.

A few hours later, at nearby Kismet Beach, a 15-year-old boy was bitten on his left foot while surfing.

Officials said the boy’s heel and toes were intact and he was healing at a nearby hospital.

“We did have a season last year where we had six swimmers bitten from sharks, so this has turned into a bit of a concern,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison told WABC.

State parks officials have increased patrols and are using more drones to survey the water for possible danger after the spate of attacks last year.
