Tina Fey probably did not have rescuing a shark on her beach vacation itinerary, but that’s exactly what happened when the Texas resident and others were swimming in the Gulf on Thursday.

Fey shot video of the mako shark that washed ashore Thursday on Pensacola Beach as swimmers aided the struggling fish.

“Soo this just happened!!! Pensacola Beach. Contact [wildlife] rescue and life guards, and was told there’s nothing they could do for him. So sad!!” Fey wrote on social media along with a video of the shark that went viral.

Fey said she and her husband, Josh, were vacationing in Gulf Breeze to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary.

The Hallettsville, Texas, couple went swimming Thursday on Pensacola Beach when the shark “happened to beach itself right in front of us.”

“Babe, look at them freakin’ teeth,” Tina Fey can be heard telling her husband in the video.

“We took action to get him back in the water since the wildlife people and lifeguards told us there was not they could do!! So we did our best to try to save him!!” she posted on social media.

The shark was “clearly sick or injured,” Fey wrote.

She told AL.com that there were no indications that the shark died as of Friday afternoon.

As Josh Fey and other beachgoers flocked to the beached mako, the shark began flapping, causing the group to scuttle away.

They returned to tug on the shark’s tailfin to help get the mako back in the water.

The shark is then seen swimming away.
