BRITNEY Spears’ family has fears that the star could sink into a dangerous mental health meltdown after the release of her upcoming memoir.

The hitmaker has been working with acclaimed writer and journalist Sam Lansky, and editors from publishers Simon & Schuster on her 288-page memoir The Woman In Me.

The book is expected to lay bare a lot of her life’s traumas and battles from the past few years and relatives worry about the strain she may be under when it hits the shelves.

According to a source, Britney has undergone therapy sessions and counseling as she relived some of her darkest times from relationship splits to being placed in a Los Angeles hospital’s psychiatric ward.

One family insider revealed: “Britney agreed to present her story and her truth, but she doesn’t have a clue about how her words are about to be blown up around the world.

“Her entire life and mental well-being will be examined in the aftermath.

“We all fear that opening all these wounds and very personal moments publicly could impact her well-being and does have us worried.”

The source, aware of her attacks and loathing of her father Jamie, added: “Britney is living on the edge mentally without the stress of this book release.

DAD DRAMA

“There is a huge fear that she will become ill as her family find themselves in her sights in the memoir.

“We are all aware of how Britney has felt betrayed over the years, but actually she has such complicated relationships with everyone.”

The insider continued: “Britney has been struggling to have perspective for over a decade.

“She feels that her dad wanted her money and had no interest in her welfare – but it was not simple.

“Jamie has always been adamant that he saved his daughter in her time of need, salvaged her finances, and protected her from unsavory characters.

“His argument was that everything he did was signed off by the court system, under the conservatorship. He is not happy about what is coming his way in the book.

“Jamie and Britney have totally different perspectives on their relationship and interactions. And even though they are not talking, she does have long-term daddy issues.”

The source shared that Britney needed therapy after working with her ghostwriter on the project.

LONG-TERM TRAUMA

“After the conservatorship ended, Britney said she was done with three times weekly therapy sessions,” they said.

“But as the process played out of putting together the book, Britney found speaking to a counselor was helpful.

“She does have long-term trauma from her experiences and worries she will never get over being in the conservatorship. Britney has long-term mental health issues that could spiral from all of this.”

The insider claims that the publishing house had to “heavily legal” sections of the book where she made explosive claims about her family’s past.

However, the source noted: “One thing for sure is that this will really paint Jamie out to be the devil.”

The Woman In Me is less than two weeks away from release.

Recently, it was revealed Britney, 41, was offered several big money opportunities to talk about her life, including an offer from Oprah Winfrey, to promote the autobiography.

US TV networks and even streamers all tabled huge bids to get time with the pop superstar either for specials or one-off in-depth profile shows surrounding her upcoming memoir.

‘GROUNDBREAKING BOOK’

But the music star “is just not up to that kind of interaction with a professional interviewer or journalist,” claimed a Los Angeles business associate.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Britney’s rep for comment but did not hear back.

Simon & Schuster bills the memoir as a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope.

The blurb reads: “In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court.

“The impact of sharing her voice – her truth – was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others.

“The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.
