Failed GOP candidate for Arizona governor in 2022 and 2024 Senate candidate, Kari Lake, received a fawning endorsement on Monday from one of the top-ranking Republicans in the U.S. Senate.

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), the chair of the GOP conference, put out a statement praising Lake and offering his endorsement for her effort to replace incumbent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ).

“Kari Lake will shine brightly for Arizona. She is a generational communicator who is giving voice to Arizona citizens,” Barrasso said, adding:

Joe Biden’s policies have crushed Arizona. Arizonans are dealing with record inflation – up 20 percent under the Biden administration. Arizona is also on the front lines of the worst illegal immigration crisis in American history. Nearly 8 million illegal immigrants under Biden, equal to the population of Arizona.

“The U.S. Senate needs a Senator from Arizona that understands these issues, and will fight hard to solve them,” the statement concluded.

Lake thanked Barrasso for his endorsement in a release, adding, “I am honored by the friendship and endorsement of Senator Barrasso. He is a tested and proven conservative leader who I greatly admire. I look forward to working with Senator Barrasso to get America back on track and fire Chuck Schumer.”

Lake was a lightning rod of controversy in her 2022 bid for governor as she made countless, baseless claims of voter fraud and has long held that the 2020 presidential election was illegitimate, despite all evidence to the contrary. Lake also campaigned with far-right figures linked to QAnon and Nazi sympathizers.
