A bombshell new book by Harry and Meghan’s friend has been pulled in the Netherlands after the Dutch edition included the wrong identity of the alleged ‘royal racist’.

In Endgame, Omid Scobie reveals letters to King Charles – then Prince of Wales – from the Duchess of Sussex about a family member’s comments speculating about the colour of their unborn baby Archie’s skin.

The author, who said there was a second person in the household who echoed the racist remarks, claimed UK libel laws stopped him revealing their identities.

But, in an apparent clanger, a review copy sent to Dutch journalists contained the passage: ‘In those private letters [name redacted] was confirmed.’

In an appearance on a Dutch chat show today, Mr Scobie said: ‘The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch.

‘But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control.’

He said he had not included the names in any version he had produced.

Publisher Xander admitted sales had been put on hold as it ‘awaits further instructions’ from bosses in the US.

There was no immediate comment from Buckingham Palace. But a spokesman for the Dutch publisher said: ‘You are right, but I can’t talk about the details. We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold and that is what we have done.’

Royal journalist Rick Evers posted: ‘It seems as if only the Dutch version has published the person’s name.’

The claims first surfaced in 2021, when the Sussexes gave an interview to US TV chat show host Oprah Winfrey.

Mr Scobie’s new book also suggests Charles evicted the couple from their Frogmore Cottage home to punish them for Harry’s tell-all autobiography Spare.

‘It was a cheap shot from a wounded father,’ he writes. Charles also branded his son ‘that fool’ after his Netflix documentary series was broadcast last year, Mr Scobie claims.

It also alleges Queen Camilla has ‘no respect for the way the couple handled themselves’ after quitting the royal family. ‘As for her relationship with Harry and Meghan – there is none.’

He also slams the Princess of Wales, lamenting how the press ‘infantalised’ her for the smallest of acts.

‘Admittedly, Kate has rarely put a foot wrong in public. But in instances where criticism would be fair, such as carrying out fewer engagements than other royals, or the fact that she has had five different private secretaries in six years, you’d be unlikely to read about it in any British newspaper,’ Scobie writes.

The ex-tabloid reporter, 42, also alleges the King has bedtime ‘temper tantrums’ if his pyjamas aren’t pressed.
