A CAVE painting that has been dated back several hundred years includes unknown figures that look like they could possibly be alien-like.

The figures have long bodies and giant heads with skinny arms and fingers leaving archaeologists to believe they may not be fully humans or animals.

The painting was discovered in 2018 at the Swaga Swaga Game Reserve in central Tanzania, East Africa on a site named Amak’hee 4, according to a 2019 paper by Archaeologist Maciej Grzelczyk of the Jagiellonian University in Poland.

It is believed that the painting is from hunter-gatherer societies in the region.

It displays a group of what looks like a wildebeest, elands, buffalo, and even a giraffe – and then three human-like figures.

Grzelczyk has tried to put together a few clues to pinpoint what the alien-looking figures with giant heads could be.

His new findings were published in Cambridge University Press on January 14, 2021.

Grzelczyk took a more modest route at first and tried to compare the giant heads to buffalo heads, but then slightly ruled it out due to there being no people wearing buffalo heads recorded from that time period.

“Particularly noteworthy among the Amak’hee 4 paintings is a scene that centers around three images,” Grzelczyk wrote in his 2021 paper.

“In this trio, the figures seem to feature stylized buffalo heads. These shapes recall the central dip in the profile of the buffalo head from where the two horns rise and then curve outward away from the head, as well as the downturned ears.”

“We find no elements of anthropomorphization of buffaloes, nor belief in the possibility of transformation of people into these animals, there are some ritual aspects that offer parallels.”

NEW CLUES

The archaeologist then highlighted that there are other trios of figures painted on caves in other areas near Amak’hee 4 that look almost identical to the ones found there.

Grzelczyk believes this could be a serious clue that whatever the figures were, they were real, and recognized by multiple people from the time.

However, he is still stumped on what exactly they could be.

Archaeologists will continue to document cave paintings in the area to try and come up with a solid answer.
