Kanye West returned to Instagram after a months-long absence to issue an apology in Hebrew to the Jewish community after years of anti-Semitic statements.

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions,” wrote West, who has been open about his struggles with his mental health.

“It was not my intention to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused,” the post continued. “I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”

West has for several years dabbled in anti-Semitic tropes, which culminated in his suspension from Twitter for anti-Semitic content posted after he declared “I like Hitler” in an interview with infamous conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. He was repeatedly suspended from Instagram for violating its policies, and deactivated his account in April.

The rapper is currently working on a new album with Ty Dolla Sign, Vultures. In a rant at a listening party for the album, West compared himself to both Jesus and Adolf Hitler.
