The 90s was an incredible decade for awesome (and terrible) disaster movies. I still love so many of those movies, from Twister to Jurassic Park. The 90s produced some of the most iconic disaster movies and franchises ever. Here are a few of my absolute favorites.

Good disaster films deliver plenty of thrills and excitement. No wonder people love them so much! In a popular online forum, a movie fan asked for the best disaster films of the 90s. Here are 14 great 90s disaster movies to check out.

1 – Hard Rain (1998)

Hard Rain features an exceptional cast (Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Minnie Driver, Ed Asner, and Betty White) and is the perfect combination of disaster, heist, action, and thriller genres. As the title reveals, the action goes down during a “hard rain,” so there are plenty of challenges created by flooding. One fan noted it’s an “underrated crossover between a disaster and Die Hard type movie. Morgan Freeman is the bad guy and a peak Christian Slater saves the day.”

2 – Fearless (1993)

Jeff Bridges delivers an amazing performance as a man who survives a horrific plane crash in this often-overlooked movie exploring the emotional side of a disaster. One movie fan said Fearless is “one of those movies that really evokes the epic power of a near-death experience.”
