PRESSURE is growing on ministers to suspend arms export licences to Israel after an IDF strike killed three Britons.

Former national security adviser Peter Ricketts, now in the House of Lords, said today: “I think the time has come to send that signal.”

Special Boat Service hero John Chapman, 57, ex-Royal Marine James Henderson, 33, and Army veteran James Kirby, 47, were among the seven World Central Kitchen workers killed in Gaza.

Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday admitted Israel was behind the deadly air strike.

Now Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi has apologised and said the bombing “shouldn’t have happened”.

He insisted: “Israel is at war with Hamas, not the people of Gaza.”

Meanwhile, Lord Cameron wants all Nato members to meet their commitments to hit two per cent of GDP on defence spending ahead of the US elections.

He called it “the most important thing we can do to make sure this alliance continues to grow”.

The UK spends around 2.2 per cent of GDP on defence spending with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt vowing to increase it to 2.5 per cent when economic conditions allow.
