Once a deep red GOP stronghold, Georgia has evolved into a full-fledged swing state. President Joe Biden carried the Peach State in 2020 and, in the 2022 midterms, Georgia voters reelected both conservative GOP Gov. Brian Kemp and liberal Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.

The Atlanta area is crucial for Democrats, including President Joe Biden — who regards Georgia as a must-win state in 2024. Atlanta’s city government has long leaned Democrat, but in recent years, the Atlanta suburbs have become increasingly Democrat-friendly.

Republican strategists have been trying to fight Democratic growth in Suburban Atlanta, but according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one of its outreach centers met its demise — and has been replaced by an upscale sex shop.

The AJC reports that in 2021, Republicans opened an “Asian-American outreach center” in a suburban strip mall in Gwinnett County outside Atlanta.

“Then-Senate candidate Herschel Walker commemorated its first anniversary a year later, and multiple national news outlets focused on the center for stories on GOP efforts to expand the party’s base into new minority populations,” the AJC reported.

“Now, the strip mall spot where the Republican National Committee once held pastor roundtables and Lunar New Year celebrations is home to something different and decidedly more spicy: an adult sex toys and novelties retailer catering to an upscale crowd.”

That outreach center and others, according to AJC, were designed to encourage non-white Georgia residents to vote Republican.

But the centers, AJC reports, proved to be a disappointment.

In an April 10 post on X, Bluestein posted, “One of at least three GOP offices in Atlanta that have now shuttered after opening to much fanfare and promises of reaching voters of color.”

Some X users find it amusing that a space that was once a GOP outreach center is now being used to sell sex toys.

Kandiss Taylor, a far-right Christian nationalist who ran against Kemp in Georgia’s GOP gubernatorial primary in 2022, tweeted, “Supply and demand.”

Seth Taylor, a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention and a Democratic organizer in Fulton County, humorously posted, “I hear there’s a lot of buzz surrounding this new facility.”
