Former President Donald Trump fired something of a warning shot Friday morning in the form of a fundraising email, the subject of which read, “72 hours until all hell breaks loose!”

At issue is Trump’s scheduled appearance in court for the first day of a New York state trial focusing on alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 general election.

Never one to miss an opportunity to raise funds, the Trump campaign sent out a fundraising email in which it insisted “ALL HELL” would break loose on Monday, adding, “Now is the time to help me SAVE AMERICA and chip in.” Buried deep in the email, there is a call for peaceful demonstrations, which reads: “If we fail to have a MASSIVE outpouring of peaceful patriotic support – right here, right now – all Hell will break loose.”

Some may read the campaign email as using hyperbolic language designed to inspire Trump’s most loyal supporters to donate cash and, well, in their eyes, “save America.” Others might see this as a figurative call to arms, echoing Trump’s similar call to Trump supporters to peacefully march to the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, which turned into a violent riot of protesters looking to overturn the free and fair election Trump lost to President Joe Biden.
