This is the insane moment a man “dealing with spirits” walked into a church and tried to shoot a pastor at point-blank range.

The incident happened at Jesus’ Dwelling Place in North Braddock, Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon.

Video shows the suspect walking in front of pastor Glenn Germany and pointing a gun at his face.

The pastor tries to shield himself and ducks out of the way. The man seems to fire the gun, but the weapon jams and nothing comes out.

The church deacon then jumps into action and tackles the deranged suspect before he can point his gun at Germany once again.

“I was like, this is not happening,” Pastor Germany told CBS News after the incident. “I thank God because only God stopped and jammed this gun.”

The shaken pastor spoke to the suspect, 26-year-old Bernard Polite, while he was in custody.

“This guy was just dealing with spirits he said, and he came in and wanted to shoot somebody,” Germany said, adding that Polite was hearing voices in his head.

Deacon Clarence McCallister, who Germany calls a “hero,” says he didn’t think much before putting himself on the line to stop Polite from carrying out a massacre.

“There’s something that needs to be done and I jumped up and handled my business,” McCallister said.

Germany’s 14-year-old daughter watched everything unfold from her seat at the pews.

“I still had to be strong, because I had to be strong for her, but I couldn’t take it, and just seeing her, that’s the part that’s hard for me to digest,” Germany said.

Polite now faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and attempted homicide.

After the attempted church shooting, officers found 56-year-old Derek Polite dead at the home where Polite lives. The relationship between the two is unclear, but witnesses told police that Polite lived at the home with a relative, WXPI reports.
