TEAM USA is off to a sluggish start at the Paris Olympics after a statement showing on day two.

It looked as if Team USA were ready to dominate the Paris Olympics, but they quickly cooled off on Monday.

After claiming two gold medals and seven overall on Sunday, the US failed to capture any gold medals on Monday, dropping them down in the standings.

Monday saw Team USA capture six bronze medals and two silver medals, eight overall but no golds.

Team USA was represented well in the swimming pool, with four of their eight medals on Monday coming in swimming.

Katie Grimes won silver for Team USA, and Emma Weyant, Luke Hobson, and Ryan Murphy won bronze.

Two more of the medals came in skateboarding, with Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston winning silver and bronze.

Nick Itkin won bronze for Team USA in fencing, and the Team USA men’s gymnastics team brought home bronze in team gymnastics.

The large haul of medals continued, Team USA’s dominance of the overall medal count, but they have fallen far behind on gold medals.

Team USA has three golds so far at the Olympics, with five countries ahead of them.

Japan leads with six gold medals, China and Korea are next with four golds, and France and Australia come in third with four golds.

Team USA fans have taken notice of their country’s lack of performance and are begging them to step it up on social media.

“Team USA lacking in gold medals, track & field olympians pls save us,” one fan said.

“We kind of need to step it up USA…where tf are these gold medals!?????” another fan said.

“USA is lacking on Gold medals,” a third fan said.

While things are going slow to start, there is still much to look ahead for Team USA.

Track and Field has not gotten started yet, and Team USA is expected to dominate the competition.

Team USA did not capture any gold medals on Monday, but still brought home eight overall.

Here are the medalists for Team USA on Monday:

  • Jagger Eaton, silver – men’s street final skateboarding
  • Nyjah Huston, bronze – men’s street final skateboarding
  • bronze, men’s team gymnastics
  • Katie Grimes, silver – women’s 400m individual medley swimming
  • Emma Weyant, bronze – women’s 400m individual medley swimming
  • Luke Hobson, bronze – men’s 200m freestyle swimming
  • Ryan Murphy, bronze – men’s 100m backstroke swimming
  • Nick Itkin, bronze – men’s foil individual fencing

Both Team USA basketball teams are also expected to capture gold in their respective tournaments.

There is some hope in tennis as well, as Coco Gauff is battling through the bracket to move on to round three.

She defeated Argentina’s Maria Lourdes Carle 6-1, 6-1 to win in round two.

Gauff will have to make it through four more rounds to compete for a gold medal, but being ranked No. 2 in the world has her as one of the favorites.

Team USA also has plenty of hope in women’s gymnastics, with multiple athletes moving on to the finals.

Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee are leading the charge for Team USA, with hopes of grabbing multiple medals on the mats.

There are still plenty of events, and Team USA has time to regroup and pull back into contention for the gold medal lead in Paris.
