DISGRACED US representative George Santos has begged for forgiveness after he was ousted from Congress for fabricating his resume.

Santos, 35, sat down with TalkTV’s Piers Morgan to make his case on why he deserves a second chance.

Santos made history for the Republican party during his short tenure as the US representative for New York’s 3rd congressional district.

In January, he was the first openly gay Republican to be elected to Congress, and, less than a year later, was the first party member to be expelled from the House.

Soon after being elected, news outlets began reporting inconsistencies in the stories he told on the campaign trail.

Santos allegedly lied about his education, work experience, property ownership, ethnicity, and religion, among other things.

In May 2023, he was indicted on 12 criminal charges, including counts of wire fraud, money laundering, and theft of public funds, and the House Ethics Committee launched an investigation.

According to the committee, Santos allegedly used donor money to fund purchases at Hermes and OnlyFans, lied to collect unemployment, and falsely claimed he worked at Wall Street and was a volleyball star at a college he never attended.

He’s also been accused of fabricating associations with the Holocaust, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

Santos has admitted to lying about some of his history but still pleaded not guilty to the 23 fraud-related charges he is now facing.

In December 2023, Santos was expelled from Congress after a damning ethics report was released.

Over 100 Republicans joined Democrats in voting for his removal.

While the oust sparked a flurry of media attention and television spots for the defamed politician, his future remains grim.

‘I CAN’T EXPLAIN IT’

In an exclusive interview airing on TalkTV and Fox Nation, broadcaster Piers Morgan first asked Santos why he would threaten his freedom with years of lies.

“I don’t have an answer for you. I really don’t,” Santos said before pausing for an awkward staring contest.

Morgan went on to ask whether Santos had a difficult childhood or any specific event that triggered the lies.

Santos responded, “No, can’t explain it. Can’t explain it. Sorry Piers.”

The former politician, who briefly lived in Brazil with his family, also addressed what his late mother would have thought about his behavior.

She was a focal point of his storytelling on the campaign trail with Santos at one point claiming that she was a self-made female executive at a financial institution.

However, after her death, she was described as a cook by Brazilian news outlets.

When asked how she would react to his story, Santos said she would have “smacked me to hell.”

“She was a tough lady. She would have physically assaulted me… because it was unacceptable,” he said.

“The fact I had to open my mouth and say anything that wasn’t true, she would have beaten me to a crisp.”

‘DON’T COUNT ME OUT’

Santos went on to address the book The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing and Very American Legend of George Santos, which was written by Mark Chiusano.

The book is filled with “fabulous stories” of the ex-politician’s life that he claimed were completely untrue.

Santos pointed out that Chiusano wasn’t able to get information from any of his family members before he published the work.

“He just has wild allegations in there with no corroboration whatsoever other than hearsay,” Santos said.

“The man is a fabulist who grifted and hustled Simon and Schuster into believing that he was gonna get ample interviews with me.”

At one point in the interview, Santos reflected on the years he has ahead and urged the American people to give him a second chance.

“Don’t count me out,” he said in a moment of rare sincerity.

“I’ve given many people a second chance, and I’m asking everybody to please give me a second chance.

“We all make mistakes if you really take a look deep inside, and I am sorry.

“I look forward to continuing to be a voice for those who seek leadership in me.”

At the end of the interview, Morgan gave Santos a speech saying that he could have achieved success with his natural charisma and the true story of his life.

“You could have been a superstar,” Morgan said as Santos appeared to get choked up.

The disgraced representative sighed and responded, “The way I look at it is, God maybe intended a different path. That’s the only thing I can say.

“I’m faithful, so I believe there’s always a reason why things happen a certain way.”

Santos said he hoped his story would open the eyes of the American people and “start a political revolution.”

He is due back in court for a hearing on January 23.
