PLAYBOY tycoon Hugh Hefner was an opiate addict who kept an “earthquake supply” of prescription drugs at his mansion, his widow has claimed in an explosive new memoir. 

Former Playmate Crystal Hefner, 37, revealed the late magazine magnate’s secret battle with addiction for the first time in her upcoming autobiography Only Say Good Things, out next week.

The blonde beauty – who became Hefner’s third wife in 2012 despite their 60-year age gap – claimed that the problem got so bad, that staff feared he would die of an overdose. 

Crystal claimed Hef first got hooked on painkillers he was “legitimately” prescribed to treat back pain.

After that, unscrupulous doctors had no issue prescribing him monthly refills of Percocet pills and even provided him with a backup stash.

Although he was able to keep the secret from the outside world, Crystal said it was a well-known fact to everyone at his Playboy mansion in Los Angeles, even though “no one ever talked about it.”

But it wasn’t until he became less coherent and started nodding off during regular game and movie nights at the mansion that she discovered that he had been tapping into his so-called earthquake supply too.

Crystal wrote, “With so many celebrities dying of overdoses from doctors who gave them endless supplies, people around him got more careful, and the opiates had to be given to him like he used to give us allowance—in controlled doses.”

The former model said that prior to his opiate addiction, Hef had been hooked on the amphetamine Dexedrine during Playboy’s heyday in the 1970s.

He would use the ADHD drug to stay up all night working on the magazine. 

She said he also smoked his pipe for years until he had a stroke, which he described as a “stroke of luck” because it made him give it up.  

Crystal revealed in the book that Hef – who died from a superbug infection in 2017 at 91 – gave her marijuana on the first night they met and had sex at the mansion. 

She said that he pulled out a black leather pouch and handed out a joint to her and three other girls before they all had sex together in his bedroom.  

Crystal, who was 21 at the time, described how Hefner offered the drug as if it was a treat.

Not wanting to say no, she claimed she faked puffing on the joint because she hated the way marijuana made her feel. 

She said that later she discovered that “passing the pot” was part of Hefner’s ritual with all the new young women he slept with.

Crystal also suggested in the book that Hefner’s hearing was “shot” because he took copious amounts of Viagra. 

She wrote that as an older man trying to keep up with a hard-partying lifestyle, Hef would “give up a limb before he gave up” the erectile dysfunction pills.

Crystal’s revelations come after a documentary about Playboy released in 2022 claimed that hard drugs were also rife at the mansion. 

Hefner’s former executive assistant Lisa Loving Barrett told A&E’s Secrets of Playboy that cocaine was a big deal when she worked for him between 1977 and 1989. 

Barrett also claimed that Hefner kept a stockpile of Quaaludes, the same powerful sedative which Bill Cosby allegedly used to drug his victims.

She explained that Quaaludes were known as a “leg spreaders” and considered a necessary evil because they made women do anything. 

Hef’s ex-girlfriend Sondra Theodore told the show that cocaine was so abundant that a dog belonging to one of his friends got hooked on the drug. 

Sondra said, “There were drugs everywhere.

“John Dante was Hef’s best friend. He had a dog, Louis — and this tiny poodle got hooked on cocaine.

“The dog could smell it from across the room. He had to lock that dog up when people were around.

“A very famous person walked into the house one night and that dog jumped off the couch and was licking her up the nose.”
